ERP equals to risk management
The UTU Group had used a specially tailored ERP system for so long that obtaining support for the system was proving difficult. In addition to the fact that managing the outdated technology was growing increasingly dependent on individuals, business requirements had increased.
The company wanted its new ERP system to be, as much as possible, a ready-for-use product that would be easy to use, flexible, and well-supported. The goals were the minimisation of disruption to operations and the streamlining of ERP and administration.
An extensive project kept on schedule
The new company-wide ERP system Digia Enterprise ERP was implemented in line with the planned timetable in December 2010. The UTU Group comprises such companies as electrotechnical product provider UTU Powel Oy and UTU Elec Oy, which manufactures electrical appliances, for instance.
The comprehensive ERP solution covers all ERP operations, including purchase management, production and maintenance, quality management, sales, offer processing, logistics, financial administration solutions, business-critical EDI connections to customers’ order management systems, and interfaces to development CADS software. The system also includes a handheld terminal solution for stock operations, making stock management faster and more efficient. The financial administration solution covers accounting (including group accounting), budgeting, and payroll calculation.
The company was able to reduce overlaps in its work and unify its operational processes.
