Software company Digia has concluded a six-year framework agreement with gas company Gasum for supplying information systems. The information system projects resulting from the agreement is aimed at supporting business operations throughout the Gasum Group, for example, through improved internal efficiency, resource management and reporting.
Through this project, Gasum also ensures adaptation to any future changes in business activities and the corporate structure. Gasum’s new system will cover distribution services, energy management, management of financial, material and human resources, integrity management, project management and connections to partners, as well as readiness for transport logistics management.
“We are proud to be starting cooperation with Gasum,” says Digia’s Timo Karpola, in charge of the project. “I am confident we can provide them with the sector’s highest level of expertise in supplying comprehensive and multi-channel system packages.”
Gasum’s new ERP system is based on the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 software. Digia follows a transparent vertical strategy in its Dynamics AX business. Clients are provided with a system package that suits their needs as closely as possible. The package comprises pre-integrated Dynamics AX verticals provided by Digia and its partners.
“The comprehensive solution provided jointly by Digia and its partners in vertical solutions is a good fit for Gasum’s business needs and the quality target set for the project,” says Gasum’s project manager, Esa Hallivuori. “We carefully assessed all ERP systems feasible for the scale of our company’s operations and available on the market through a three-phase procurement process that lasted over a year. The solution offered by Digia and its partners came first in the quality and price comparisons of the final tendering process.”
The acquisition of the ERP system is part of Gasum’s business strategy that the company has refined following changes in the operating environment. With the new strategy, Gasum’s business activities become more diversified and expand. According to the company’s estimates, the existing systems in use do not adequately support new business functions and their common procedures.
The implementation of the ERP system project will be launched in March 2012. The project is estimated to be fully complete by June 2014. In addition to the core IT solution, the project covers the integration of the new and existing systems, and training.
