Digia Wins Quality Innovation Prize for 2011

10th November 2011 - Digia's Oiko.fi cloud service has won Excellence Finland's Quality Innovation of the Year competition for 2011, in the ‘large companies’ category. Oiko.fi is aimed at companies with mobile workers. It enables firms to send assignments to employees on the move. This makes mobile work more efficient, saves employee time, optimises routes and saves on fuel. It also speeds up invoicing and improves customer satisfaction. Quality Innovation of the Year aims to raise Finland's number of innovations and their level. The innovativeness criteria are novelty value, usability and learning. Quality is judged based on customer-drivenness and cost-effectiveness

Digia's Oiko.fi service is aimed at companies engaged in mobile work. This includes dispatch and haulage firms, various repair, construction and renovation companies, and firms involved in property maintenance and management. Customer companies are thrilled by this service, which is used by hundreds of staff in several sectors.

"This prize is a wonderful recognition of our work. I think our service's ease of use and simplicity were decisive. Too many IT innovations try to be just too complex. Oiko is a good example of how an insight can improve productivity and wellbeing at work, but still be inspiringly simple. The key is to understand the essentials of streamlining work flows, and to aim for simplicity”, states Tommi Laitinen, Director of Digia's Ventures Unit.

For bigger players, Oiko.fi replaces clunky in-vehicle terminals and brings transparency to subcontractor work. Passing assignment information on to subcontractors, and monitoring the progress of work, is also easy. Easy integration with widely used ERP systems enables flexible interaction with current solutions.
To SMEs, cloud services are a handy way of managing work on a mobile basis. They find traditional in-vehicle hardware and ERP systems too expensive. Faster cash flow and smoother invoicing is critical for such companies.

"Real-time, mobile management of tasks is going to be big in the future. The benefits of better efficiency are obvious, but the real gain is to be found in totally new services. Oiko.fi makes these possible. Using this system, our customers can also develop and produce such services. Combine this concept with low start-up and operating costs, throw in the flexibility of cloud services, and you've got a product with clear global potential”, adds Laitinen.
