Digia Plc Press release 16 June 2010
Ykkösleipurit (Katri Antell Oy, Leipomo Rosten Oy, Linkosuo Oy, Porin Leipä Oy and Primula Oy) reached agreement on purchase of Digia Enterprise ERP system.
Digia will deliver the Digia Enterprise ERP and financial management system to five regional companies in the Ykkösleipurit chain. This state-of-the-art system will lead to faster processes and greater efficiency at the five bakeries. In addition, the joint acquisition will generate cost savings.
As well as helping the bakeries to operate, Digia's state-of-the-art ERP system will cover each company's ERP and financial administration requirements. The Digia iSuite integration solution, reporting solution and hosted server environment will also be delivered to the bakeries.
Real-time facilitates management and increases production chain transparency
As well as improving their efficiency, the companies will be able to renew their operating models and develop their processes. The systems' real-time capability will facilitate management: for example, within sales an instantaneous view of developments in the bakery will improve transparency across organisational boundaries. In addition, a faster response can be made to unexpected events. For example, when required for a large product order, additional resources can be deployed rapidly.
From now on, everyday work in the bakeries will be easier. The new system will transform shop-floor management, as paper-based administration gives way to the electronic, real-time workflow management and event reporting offered by Digia Enterprise.
Digia will also deliver a financial management system, and an electronic ordering, invoicing management and reporting solution. Through these, management will have access to precise customer and product profitability calculations.
Digia chosen as long-term partner thanks to sound ERP expertise
Through competitive bidding, Ykkösleipurit was seeking a reliable technology partner for at least the next decade. Negotiations with Digia lasted two years. 'After extensive surveys and applicability analyses, we chose Digia because of its proven track record in ERP system deliveries,' explains
Sakari Annala, Managing Director of Katri Antell Oy.
'Digia has strong expertise in ERP systems. We have experience of implementing ERP systems for a range of industries. Most Digia Enterprise customers come from the commercial or industrial sectors. For Digia, this project represents a major expansion into the food industry. Productised for the bakery industry, these solutions can be easily scaled down for small bakeries through SaaS (Software as a Service) options,' says Digia's Sales Director
Arto Raudaskoski.
Greater security and guaranteed service reliability through outsourcing of technical services
Digia will provide the technical services for Ykkösleipurit on a hosted server environment. Through a centralised environment, Ykkösleipurit can ensure high system availability. Ykkösleipurit's operations will be secured through message traffic monitoring, guaranteeing a fast response in problem situations.
The Digia iSuite integration solution, which enables seamless electronic connections to retailers, other applications and data gathering solutions used in production, will also be delivered to the bakeries. In the future, this integrated solution will enable, for example, the connection to the Enterprise system of hand terminals used in production.
Joint acquisition generates cost savings and strengthens bakery community
Spanning several years, the project will begin next autumn. The system will first be deployed by Primula Oy, followed by the other companies at one-month intervals. This joint acquisition will enable the bakeries to share project costs, while saving on resources during the planning and implementation phases. Moreover, the joint project will make exchanging experiences and sharing best practices easy.
