Digia Phonebook 2.0: Easier installation and more supported phones
Digia Plc Press Release 16th February 2009
Digia Plc today announced Digia Phonebook 2.0 with Web based contact synchronization, support for MIDP Java phones, Symbian devices, Google Android devices and the iPhone. Digia Phonebook is already in commercial use by thousands of Symbian users. Taking the solution into use is now even easier with the web service and new clients bring the number of supported phones to over a billion devices worldwide.
Managing up to tens of thousands of contacts in your phone has never been so easy – Users can add their contacts to the web service and then transfer them to their phones. Once in the phone, one can search the desired contact very fast and then make a call or send a message to the contact. In Android, S60 and UIQ phones Digia Phonebook also shows detailed information about the caller on the phone screen immediately when the phone rings.
The free Digia Phonebook web-service is available at
http://pb.digia.com
. Users can install the application for their Android, S60, UIQ and Java MIDP phones directly and easily by visiting the web-service with their phone. Digia Phonebook for the iPhone is available for download at the Apple AppStore.
An extended version of Digia Phonebook is available for corporate customers. This version allows direct transfer of business contacts from one or more back-end systems to all the employees' phones. When using Digia Phonebook, every employee always has up-to-date contacts of all his colleagues and customers in his phone. This saves time as it spares employees from managing their business contacts manually.
The new Digia Phonebook service and the various mobile clients are presented at Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona during 16th – 19th February 2009.
