SYSOPENDIGIA and a supply consortium headed by Fujitsu Services Oy will supply Kela (the Social Insurance Institution of Finland) with a nation-wide electronic patient record system and the information systems needed in the implementation of electronic prescription transmission.
SYSOPENDIGIA's area of responsibility in this project covers messaging services. Messaging will provide an interface enabling national health care information systems to be connected to an electronic patient record system in the future. The technical solution is based on IBM's WebSphere product family, particularly its Process Server process engine and the Enterprise Service Bus messaging functionality.
"For SYSOPENDIGIA, this project is an important new step in the field of health care. Our co-operation with Fujitsu is proof of our ability to operate as part of various supply consortiums within the framework of our own expertise", says Director Ari Nuutinen from SYSOPENDIGIA.
The information systems will be built over two years. During the first stage, systems related to the implementation of electronic prescription transmission will be built, enabling the transmission of the first electronic prescriptions in the autumn of 2008. At the second stage, an electronic patient record will be built, with its implementation scheduled to begin at the end of 2008.
The systems will be adopted by all pharmacies as well as both private and public health care by April 2011.
