Insta DefSec, the leading supplier of network centric defence solutions in Finland, in cooperation with AffectoGenimap and SYSOPENDIGIA supplies a support system for the operational command, control and planning of the Finnish Air Force.

The contract covers the first phase of the CORE (Common Operational Resources) program. The end result of the phase will be a system that further enhances situational awareness in the Finnish Air Force by renewing the situational reporting process and providing the users with a new type of comprehensive situation picture that combines situational and resource information from multiple sources. The contract includes options for the purchase of information system support for the Air Force's operative planning and command and control processes as well as extensive reporting features. All services of the system are offered through a portal to the users of any hardware. CORE is the first SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) service system based on the Defence Forces' new iTVJ2010 architecture.

A well-established long-time partner of the Air Force, the consortium possesses expertise in the development of air defence command, control, intelligence and surveillance systems, with Insta DefSec being a long-term supplier of air defence command and control systems. CORE has extensive interfaces with these systems. It will be an integral part of the overall management of the Finnish Air Force, and offers an important tool for the network centric defence of the 2010s.

Insta has overall responsibility for the project and special expertise needed to work as a partner of the Defence Forces. AffectoGenimap concentrates on the geographical information system (GIS), business intelligence (BI), and the reporting properties of the project, while SYSOPENDIGIA specializes in assurance of usability. The first phase of the program with its options stretches over a period of three years and the investment in it is about 4,5 million €. Decisions on the subsequent phases of the program will be made separately in the years ahead.
