Digia to integrate OAJ applications on Oracle technology platform

SYSOPENDIGIA to integrate OAJ applications on Oracle technology platform
OAJ will also introduce the Oracle Collaboration Suite

OAJ, the Trade Union of Education in Finland, will centralise its membership register and electronic business systems on a technology platform comprising Oracle 10g database and Oracle Fusion Middleware. Until now, OAJ's systems have been operated on different software platforms. SYSOPENDIGIA Plc will supply and integrate the systems. The total system supplied to OAJ by SYSOPENDIGIA is called OpenPoint. In the future, it will be extended to include an intranet and an extranet. With the introduction of OpenPoint, all OAJ's systems will migrate to three-tier architecture.

In conjunction with the system reform, OAJ will also introduce new teamwork collaboration software. OAJ chose Collaboration Suite (OCS), the first centralised, database-based teamwork software suite on the market. It combines e-mail, calendar, voicemail, fax, search and data management systems into one centralised database. Initially, OAJ will use the e-mail and calendar functions of OCS, as well as the Oracle Content Services data management system for managing documents.

"The primary criterion for choosing Oracle technology was the fact that the organisation's most important data system, its membership register, has been operated in an Oracle database. Information contained in the membership register is also utilised in nearly all other OAJ applications", says Mr. Rauno Segersvärd, Financial Manager with the Trade Union of Education in Finland.

The entire staff of OAJ, some 125 users, will start using OCS. The e-business systems are also available for various associations, shop stewards and all individual members. OAJ has a total of 113,000 members.

For several years, SYSOPENDIGIA has been supplying different trade unions and unemployment benefit societies with systems based on Oracle database. The entire application offering is based on three-tier architecture, and it makes versatile use of Oracle's application infrastructure: File saving structures based on Oracle database, Oracle Application Server as the platform for running applications, single sign-on services, and providing the members with electronic services.
